It took the final game of the season to decide the final standings and the scoring champion in the North Central Hockey League. The Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks edged the Foxwarren Falcons 6-5 in a shootout on Wednesday, Feb. 10 in Foxwarren. While the game meant nothing to the C-Hawks, the single point for the Falcons was enough to move them into a tie with the Shoal Lake Eagles for fifth place. However, because the Falcons defeated the Eagles in two out of three games this season, they were awarded fifth place. Curtis Gardham picked up a goal and two assists to win the league scoring title. Gardham finished with 54 points, one point ahead of Oak Lake-Brandon Icemen forward Ryan Halliday. Halliday missed his team's final regular season game against Roblin on Tuesday night. The playoff matchups will see the regular season champion Grandview Comets take on the Kenton Cougars, Oak Lake-Brandon face the Roblin Northstars, Miniota-Elkhorn up against Shoal Lake, and the Reston Rockets playing Foxwarren.
