Darren Whelpton scored twice to lead the Kenton Cougars to a 3-1 upset of the Reston Rockets in a North Central Hockey League game played on Wednesday, Jan. 13 in Reston.
Ryan Carter also scored for the Cougars, who are eighth in league standings.
Shane Skeoch had the goal for the Rockets, who remain in fourth place, one point back of the Oak Lake-Brandon Icemen.

Billy Harrison had a hat trick and Jarrett Newton, Jared Ruf and Cody Hart each added a pair as the Northstars ripped the Bombers 12-4 in Roblin on Sunday, Jan. 10.
Shawn Yakimishyn, Ryan Bram and Brock Jersak chipped in with singles for the Northstars, who led 3-1 and 6-1 by periods.
Tyler Jury scored three times in a losing cause for the Bombers, while Devon Foord added a single.

Grandview 9 Miniota-Elkhorn 2
Luke Stokotelny scored four goals and added three assists as the Comets dumped the C-Hawks 9-2 in Miniota on Sunday, Jan. 10.
Derrick Pulock added a pair for the league-leading Comets, while Kyle Lopez, Steegan Stoski and Jeff Legarden notched singles.
Sean McKean and Kelsey McLeod replied for the C-Hawks.

Shoal Lake 8 Miniota-Elkhorn 6
Robby Memryk scored three times as the Eagles skated to an 8-6 win over the C-Hawks in Shoal Lake on Saturday, Jan. 9.
Jeff Neufeld, Joel Yanick, Aaron Wojnarski, Joel Ostash and Ryan Knight also scored for the hosts, who led 2-0 and 6-3 at the intermissions.
Nat Howard replied with two goals for the C-Hawks, while Curtis Gardham, Jason Corbett, Kelsey McLeod and Duncan Lelond notched singles.

Grandview 9 Minnedosa 6
The Comets got a three-goal performance from Steegan Stoski to help them defeat the Bombers 9-6 in Grandview on Friday, Jan. 8.
Brett Ewanyshyn and Kaine Morran each added a pair for the hosts, while Chris Porter and Kyle Lopez chipped in with singles.
Wes Lewis and Devon Foord fired two goals each for the Bombers, who trailed 4-3 and 6-4 by periods. Brent Madill and Brendon Taylor were the other Minnedosa scorers.

Derek Hodgins scored twice to lead the Oil Kings to their first win of the year, a 4-1 victory over the Cougars in Virden on Thursday, Jan. 7.
Warren Hunter and Chad Harvey also scored for the hosts, who held 2-1 and 3-1 period leads.
Jody Anderson replied for the Cougars.
