Oak Lake-Brandon 15 Minnedosa 6 Five players scored two goals each as the Oak Lake-Brandon Icemen hammered the Minnedosa Bombers 15-6 in a North Central Hockey League game in Oak Lake on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Richard Didluck, Riley Day, Ryan Halliday, Jordan Zenk and Matt Rey helped the Icemen move to within two points of the first place Grandview Comets. The Icemen, who led 4-2 and 8-4 at the intermissions, received single goals off the sticks of Scott Langston, Derek Veldhuisen, Jaye Judd, Adam Hetherington and Grant Bastone. Devon Foord had a hat trick for the Bombers, who have won just twice in 21 games this season. Rick Cooper with a pair, and Kent Brown were the other Minnedosa marksmen. Reston 7 Foxwarren 3 The Rockets moved into a third place tie with the Miniota C-Hawks with a 7-3 win over the Falcons in Reston on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Kent Schiltroth and Derek Elliott each scored twice for the hosts, with Ryan Elliott, Aaron DeRoo and Rory Tycoles notching singles. The Falcons, who are in sixth place, got a pair of goals from Danny Johnston and a single from David Barteaux. Miniota-Elkhorn 6 Shoal Lake 4 Nat Howard was a thorn in the side of the Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 26 in Elkhorn. The C-Hawks forward scored four goals and assisted on two others as the hosts edged the Eagles 6-4. The teams were tied 1-1 and 3-3 at the intermissions, but in the end it was Howard's third goal of the game with 1:40 left that proved to be the game winner. He then added an insurance marker into an empty net. League scoring leader Curtis Gardham and Mike Huberdeau also tallied for the C-Hawks. Joel Yanick, Carey Findlay, Robby Memryk and Nathan Holovach scored for Shoal Lake, who sit in fifth place. Shoal Lake 6 Virden 2 Donovan Chief scored twice as the Eagles got past the Oil Kings in Shoal Lake on Friday, Jan. 22. Joel Yanick, Carey Findlay, Jeff Chuchmuch and Ryan Knight added singles for the hosts, who led 3-2 and 5-2 at the intermissions. Chad Harvey and Mark MacDonald tallied for the Oil Kings. Minnedosa 4 Kenton 2 Wes Lewis and Tyler Jury each scored twice as the Bombers doubled the Cougars in Minnedosa on Thursday, Jan. 21. Shaune Draper and Cam Hodgins scored for the Cougars, who trailed 1-0 after the first period. The teams were tied 1-1 heading into the third.
