COMETS TAKE TITLE
The Grandview Comets are the North Central Hockey League champions.
The Comets downed the Oak Lake-Brandon Icemen 4-1 in game five of their best-of-seven series on Thursday, April 2 in Grandview to clinch the title and win the series 4-1.
Mark Odut had a pair of goals and added one helper to lead the Comets.
Bryan Kauk tallied for the Icemen.
This marks the first time in franchise history that Grandview has won a NCHL Championship.

NCHL SPRING MEETING
The North Central Hockey League will hold their Spring Meeting at the Hamiota Arena on Sunday, April 19 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
All member teams must be represented. Any teams wishing to apply to enter to the league for the 2009-10 season should make representation to the meeting.

March 24
GAME 2 OF NCHL FINALS POSTPONED
Game 2 of the North Central Hockey League finals scheduled for tonight in Oak Lake has been postponed due to weather.
Weather permitting, the game will be played this Thursday, March 26 at 8:30 p.m. in Oak Lake.
Game 3 will be moved to another date. Once finalized, any other changes to the Championship series schedule will be announced in the coming days.

NCHL FINAL DATES
The dates for the North Central Hockey League championship series are set.
The best of seven series to decide the NCHL championship between the regular season champion Grandview Comets and the Oak Lake Icemen will kick off this Saturday, March 21 in Grandview. The full schedule for the series can be accessed here.
After finishing the season with a league best 28 points and earning a first round bye in the playoffs, the Comets downed the Roblin Northstars in three straight games in the semi-finals.
The Icemen meanwhile, topped the Reston Rockets 3-1 in the quarterfinals and then knocked off the second place Miniota-Elkhorn 56ers 3-1 to earn their berth in the championship series.

NCHL AWARD WINNERS
The North Central Hockey League has announced its 2008-09 award winners.
Kaine Morran of the Grandview Comets was voted the league's most valuable player. Morran, who had 17 goals and 40 assists, was also the league's top scorer.
Kent Schiltroth of the Reston Rockets was voted the league's most gentlemanly player. Schiltroth had 32 points in 20 games for the Rockets, while picking up just eight minutes in penalties.
The Grandview duo of Andy Puchailo and Danny McDonald won the league goaltending title. The pair allowed just 54 goals in 22 games for a 2.45 goals against average.

LEAGUE AWARDS
North Central Hockey League teams are being asked to vote for the league's most valuable and most gentlemanly players.
A ballot has gone out to all clubs, listing the nominations from each team. The results will be tabulated and the winners announced in the next week.

Game #3 in the Virden Oil Kings vs. Kenton Cougars consolation playoff series that was scheduled for tonight, has been changed to tomorrow night, Thursday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. in Kenton.

GAME RESCHEDULED
The final North Central Hockey League regular season game between the Roblin Northstars and the Shoal Lake Eagles will be played on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 8:30 p.m. in Shoal Lake. The game will decide home ice advantage for their playoff series.

APPEAL OFFICIAL RULING
Enclosed is the decision of the appeal committee re: Default ruling by the North Central Hockey League on Feb. 3/09 regarding Roblin Northstars cancelling game with the Shoal Lake Eagles on Feb. 1/09.
1. Uphold bond forfeiture to NCHL.
2. Points will not be awarded to Shoal Lake.
3. Game in question to be played ASAP.
4. Appeal deposit to be returned to Roblin Northstars.

The schedules for both the NCHL Championship playoffs and the NCHL Consolation playoffs are now online and accessable at the top of the Schedule/Results page. Dates will be posted as they become available.
The decision by the NCHL executive to award two points to the Shoal Lake Eagles as a result of a default of a game scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 1 between the Roblin Northstars and the Eagles was appealed and overturned. The two teams will play one final regular season game to decide home ice advantage in their playoff series. The date will be posted as soon as it is determined.

The Roblin Northstars have appealed a decision by the NCHL executive to award two points to the Shoal Lake Eagles as a result of a default of a game scheduled for Shoal Lake on Sunday, Feb. 1. Pending the result of the appeal, the points from the game have been included in the standings.
February 4
The North Central Hockey League executive ruled on Feb. 3 that the Shoal Lake Eagles would be awarded two points for a default of the game scheduled in Shoal Lake against the Roblin Northstars on Sunday, Feb. 1. The Northstars will also forfeit their bond to the league.
January 29
GAME RESCHEDULED
The North Central Hockey League game between the Birtle Bruins and the Grandview Comets that was rescheduled for Feb. 14, will now be played on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 6:00 p.m. in Grandview.

The North Central Hockey League game between the Roblin Northstars and the Shoal Lake Eagles that was postponed on Nov. 19, will now be played on Monday, Feb. 9 at 8:30 p.m. in Shoal Lake.

ROCKETS AT COUGARS POSTPONED
The North Central Hockey League game between the Reston Rockets and the Kenton Cougars scheduled for tonight in Kenton has been postponed. The game will now be played on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 8:00 p.m.
January 12
BRUINS AT EAGLES POSTPONED
The North Central Hockey League game between the Birtle Bruins at the Shoal Lake Eageles scheduled for tonight has been postponed. The game will be played this Wednesday, January 14 at 8:30 p.m. in Shoal Lake.
December 11
ICEMEN SANCIONED BY LEAGUE
The North Central Hockey League has ruled that the Oak Lake Icemen have contravened the commuter rule contained in the league constitution.
Three players - Brett Boschman, Travis Mealy and Kenny Mott - were suspended for one game (served on Wednesday, Dec. 10) for violating the league's residency requirement.
As well the team loses all points (14) accumulated from Nov. 8 to Dec. 6. The points will not be awarded to the other teams.
League standings have been adjusted. However, scoring and goaltending statistics accumulated by the Icemen in the first seven games of the season will remain in the system for the time being.

As well, game summaries are now available in the Statistics section for the first week of NCHL action. Game summaries are posted every Thursday/Friday.

The 2008/09 North Central Hockey League regular season kicks off tonight with the Shoal Lake Eagles hosting the Minnedosa Bombers at 8:30 p.m.
This season teams will play a 22 game schedule. The league will be split into two north/south divisions for scheduling, with teams in each division playing each other three times, and then a home-and-home series with the teams in the other division. However, for league standings, all teams will be in one division.
For the playoffs, the top six teams will compete for the league championship, with the first and second place teams receiving a first round bye. The bottom four teams will playoff for the consolation title.
In other changes, a shootout has been added to decide games if teams remain tied after five minutes of overtime.
In addition, home teams will wear their dark jerseys for the upcoming season.
Any teams who have yet to submit their rosters to the webmaster, please fax them to 759-2521 immediately.

The North Central Hockey League website is now updated for the 2008/09 season with up to date Schedules, contacts, etc. The site will be updated with Rosters and Statistics as the information becomes available.

10 teams set to hit the ice
The North Central Hockey League held its annual scheduling meeting on Sunday, Oct. 5.
The Birtle Bruins will re-join the league this year, after taking a one season break.
The Foxwarren Falcons received a one-year leave of absence from the league citing a lack of players.
The loss of the Falcons leaves the league with 10 teams for the 2008-09 campaign.
