NCHL WELCOMES NEW TEAMS
The North Central Hockey League is expected to have two new teams for the 2012-13 season.
The Foxwarren Falcons and the Russell Rams were accepted into the league at the spring meeting held in Hamiota on Sunday, April 15.
Secretary-Treasurer Wally Henderson said Foxwarren's application, presented by Ian Chipelski, was a mere formality as the team was on a leave of absence.
Russell, however, required a new application as Russell has not had a team in the league for well over a decade. The Rams made a presentation at the meeting that listed a total of 29 potential players, several of whom played with the Shoal Lake Eagles last season.
Both teams indicated they have a strong list of players who have committed to play next season.
Ted Taylor, representing the Oak Lake Icemen, indicated that it was questionable whether or not there would be a team in the community next season. The Icemen struggled at times this team to ice enough players.
The entire 2011-12 executive was given a vote of confidence and will return intact for next season.
